Google releases Android 5.0.1, factory images also available

Google has released Android 5.0.1, a minor upgrade to Android 5.0, in Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The update most likely include bug-fixes, given the small bump in the version number. The company has also published the updated factory images with Android 5.0.1 base for select Nexus devices like Nexus 9 Wi-Fi, Nexus 7 (2013) Wi-Fi, and Nexus 10, but there is no word on the exact dates for OTA roll-out.

With many bug reports appearing after the Android 5.0 release for Nexus devices, the release of a new version with fixes was expected from Google and the company has done the same. The Android 5.0.1 update is likely reach all Nexus devices as an OTA update in the coming weeks.

In related news, Google has released the Android 5.0 update for the Google Play editions of Sony Z Ultra and LG G Pad 8.0 devices. The updates are now available over-the-air and will reach all units in the coming days.

The change-log is pretty much the same as Nexus devices and the device owners can expect to see UI improvements, ART as the default runtime, enhanced notifications, improved performance, battery saver mode, guest mode on phones and a lot more.
