US-based wearables maker Misfit has announced that it recently raised $40 million in funding round, which was participated by Xiaomi, GGV Capital, Shunwei, JD.com and existing investors. This is the first time Xiaomi has invested in a US-based start-up, but the company has been on an investment spree for the past few months, so the move is hardly surprising.

Xiaomi investor Hans Tung has joined the Misfit board of directors, reports Techcrunch.
