After a couple of leaks, Sony has made the Xperia A2 official. The smartphone was announced on Wednesday as a part of Japanese telecom operator NTT Docomo’s summer device line-up.

According to NTT Docomo, Sony Xperia A2 SO-04F will go on sale in mid-June, however the pre-orders are already open. The phone succeeds Sony’s previously launched Xperia A smartphone on Docomo in Japan. Like its predecessor, it is not expected to be released outside the country.

Coming to the specifications, Xperia A2 features a 4.3-inch 720p HD Triluminos display, Android 4.4, 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and 2300 mAh battery. The phone also comes with LTE support, 20.7MP rear camera, and 2.2MP front camera. In addition, the phone is water and dust resistant and will be available in Lavender, White, Grey Black and Orange colour options.

In addition to Sony Xperia A2, NTT Docomo has also introduced five more Android smartphones – Samsung Galaxy S5, Xperia Z2, Aquos Zeta, Arrows NX, and Disney Mobile SH-05F – as well as two Android tablets – Aquos Pad SH-06F and Xperia Z2 Tablet – as a part of its summer line-up.
