Sony launches Wi-Fi only Xperia Z Ultra as a tablet in Japan

It has been long rumoured and is finally official. Sony has announced the launch of Wi-Fi only Xperia Z Ultra in Japan as a tablet. Sony has removed the cellular radios that were present in Xperia Z Ultra smartphone and you get a pretty nice looking small tablet, which comes with high-end specifications.

Xperia Z Ultra SGP412JP features a 6.4-inch full HD Triluminos display with X-Reality for Mobile engine, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.26GHz, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.2 and 8MP rear camera. It also packs water/ dust resistance, 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and 2.2MP front camera.

According to Sony, it will be available starting January 24 for 51,800 yen (INR 30,850) without contract in White and Black colour options.

There is no word on the international release plans but we expect the company to reveal them at Mobile Word Congress next month.
