Samsung, HTC release open-source elements of KitKat ROM for GPe devices

Advertisements

Samsung and HTC have released the open-source parts of the upcoming KitKat firmware for their respective Google Play edition devices. These open-source bits for HTC One & Galaxy S4 GPe can now be grabbed from HTCDev and Samsung Open Source Release Center.

With the release of these open-source elements, the Android 4.4 OTA update roll-out is expected within days and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the update later today itself.

It is important to note here that the released open-source parts are nothing like a system image and are primarily meant for developers, who usually need this stuff to create custom firmwares and other stuff.
