Sony begins rolling out updated media apps to Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, & Z Ultra

Sony has announced that it has started rolling out the updated versions of its media applications to Xperia smartphones and Xperia Tablet Z on Wednesday. The update will be released to Android 4.2 running Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Z Ultra smartphones over-the-air via Update Center on these phones.

As the updates are released region-wise, not everyone will get the update right-away and it might take days or even weeks to reach everyone.

• New social features making it easy to discover, play and share tunes on your social channels
• Gapless, smooth playback

Album

• PlayMemories Online integration – ability to upload to, access, browse your PlayMemories library in the cloud
• Recall Playback, that intelligently displays and reminds you of memories, occasions and events
• Favourites

Movies

• Seamless access to Sony’s Video Unlimited
• A revamped UI with a banner video function for trailers and recently played videos
