Google begins selling Nexus 7 via Google Play for INR 15,999

Google has given a great Holi gift to Indian Android lovers in the form of Nexus 7 tablet in Google Play. This is the first Nexus device to start selling in the country via Google Play online store.  Priced at INR 15,999, the 16GB version of Nexus 7 tablet will begin shipping on April 5.

Nexus 7, which was un-ceremoniously launched in November 2012 (or at least was thought ), never really appeared in the retail market and the even online store listings from Croma were removed. Asus later clarified that it has not launched the tablet in the country and Nexus 7 will be released in the coming months.

The wait finally ended last night, when Android lovers across India started seeing a new devices section on Google Play website. Google is currently only selling the 16GB and Wi-Fi only version of the tablet but as it is a start, we can expect more devices to go on sale via Google Play in coming months.

Coming to Nexus 7, the tablet packs 7-inch 1280x800p IPS display with Scratch-resistant Corning glass and NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The tablet also comes with Android 4.1 (Android 4.2.2 update already available), 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with no way to add more storage.

On the imaging front, there is a 1.2MP front on the front; however you won’t get any rear cameras. The tablet also comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, NFC, Bluetooth and GPS.

Other Nexus 7 tech specs

  • Size: 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm
  • Weight: 340 grams
  • 4325 mAH (Up to 8 hours of active use)
  • Sensors: Microphone, Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Gyroscope

Its pricey. It would have been OK had it been released 5-6 months ago.

They will introduce new nexus 7 at google I/O in May. Looks like they are dumping the old stock in India.

It is pricey compared to US version and keeping in mind new nexus 7 releasing in May. A wifi only tablet is useless in India, as you don’t get wifi easily at everyplace. But still it is best option at current price in indian market. I will suggest to wait for 3G version of nexus 7, so that you can use internet anywhere.

6 k more ??? hahaha…
gotta be a joke !
2-3 k i cud have still understood.. no wonder they are following apple’s footsteps when it comes to indian market.

still .. i ll prefer ordering it from the US. ( of course if u have frnds n relatives )
6 k extra is too precious to me

Nexus 7 released in India. BIG FUCKING DEAL Google. Stop treating India like a third world country and release phone when they are new.

Nobody wants your shit that will be replaced with new shit in a couple of months.

AND stop making devices that nobody can buy. Create device that people can actually fucking buy and use. If the Nexus 4 shortage happens with Nexus 5 THEN I AM GETTING A FUCKING IPHONE THIS TIME.

AND GIVE NEXUS A FUCKING EXPANDABLE STORAGE, ITS 2013 AND WE DON’T BUY YOUR BULLSHIT STORIES.16-32gb are peanuts these days.
