Verizon rebuffs reports of Google Wallet being blocked on Galaxy Nexus

Verizon has released an official statement regarding the reports of Google Wallet being blocked on carrier’s version of Galaxy Nexus, which is set to debut in the next two days.  Several reports yesterday indicated that Verizon might be blocking the Google Wallet app on the ICS smartphone because of its partnership in the rival payment platform. But Verizon came out in defense earlier today and stated that it does not block applications.

It further stated that Google Wallet is different from other widely-available m-commerce services, and in order to work properly it needs to be integrated into a new, secure and proprietary hardware element in Verizon phones.

Verizon also announced that it is still in discussion with Google regarding the matter, giving the future Galaxy Nexus buyers some hope of getting Wallet on their smartphone.
