Acer Iconia Tab A100 delayed due to Honeycomb issues

We have been hearing rumors of a possible delay in the global launch of Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablet, but it seems we finally have a confirmation and what is the reason behind the delay. This Acer Honeycomb tablet was announced in various markets including India with a promised availability around June, but it seems company is finding it hard to make Honeycomb apps compatible with the 7 inch display of the device.

According to a report in Digitimes, the sources have revealed that Honeycomb was made with 10 inch tablets in mind and manufacturers are having problems customizing it for 7 inch tablets. Well, that clearly explains why we haven’t seen any 7 inch Android 3.0 tablet in the market.

HTC Evo View 4G, which is the US version of HTC Flyer, is said to be coming with Honeycomb on-board, but company has yet to explicitly announce it. All the other seven inch Android tablets in the market are either running Gingerbread/FroYo or below.

Google is said to be working to fix these problems and we might see the launch around August-September across the globe.

On the other hand, the tablo-phone Iconia Smart has also been delayed to July due to component shortage arising from the Japan quake.
