Chrome OS update brings new launcher, updated Files app & more

Google has started rolling out a new stable channel update for the Chrome OS machines. The update carries version number 42.0.2311.87 and brings new features, updated applications and bug-fixes.

According to Google, the new version will reach the Chrome OS devices over the next few weeks.

Field Trip app gets updated with Android Wear support

Google’s Niantic Labs has released a new version of Field Trip application in Google Play, which brings Android Wear support.

After installing the updated version, Android Wear users will be able beceive and view Field Trip notifications directly their smartwatch as well as start Field Trip searches for nearby location worth visiting.

Android 5.1-based CM 12.1 Nightlies

CyanogenMod team has announced that they are ready to start churning out Android 5.1-based CM 12.1 nightlies for the supported devices. The nightlies can be installed over CM 12.0 official installs, but you will have to manually update the third-party add-ons and install the Android 5.1 compatible gapps. Head over to CyanogenMod website to look for nightlies for your device.

The team has also stated that Cyanogen Inc’s partnership with Microsoft will have no impact on CyanogenMod.
