HERE for Android lands in Google Play, still in beta

After launching the Android version of its maps app in Galaxy Apps for Samsung devices and then on its website for all, Nokia-owned mapping company HERE has finally released it in Google Play. The HERE for Android app still remains in beta, but will now be accessible to many more users, who are more comfortable installing apps from Google Play than side-loading them.

The HERE maps app works with all Android devices with version 4.1 or above and includes features like offline turn-by-turn navigation, maps for over 110 countries, support for public transport in over 800 cities, real-time traffic information in 40 countries and Glympse support.

In addition, HERE maps app also provides local information like restaurants and shops in your area, walking directions, and more.

HERE has stated that over 1 million users tried out the Android version available on its website and it has included their feedback in the latest version, which packs improved stability and performance as well as a fix for a voice-related navigation bug.
