OnePlus co-founder and director Carl Pei told Forbes that the company has been able to sell so many units despite a marketing budget of just $300, which was spent on Facebook ads to reach a critical mass.
One of the key reasons for the success of a relatively unknown and new brand has been the value for money that OnePlus One phone offers. The phone packs high-end specifications, which are comparable to flagships from various firms, but still retails for just $349.
India launch
The shipment numbers revelation comes at a time, when OnePlus is planning to enter the Indian market and had recently announced the hiring of a GM for the market. The company has appointed Vikas Agrawal as India GM and his previous employers include Ibibo Group, Trikona Capital, Ocwen Financial Solutions & i2 Technologies. Agrawal was also the co-founder of Paras Softcom and a founding member of PE Fund SITQ India.
With the exception of a single non-invite ordering hour, OnePlus has been selling its OnePlus One smartphone using invite system and the company plans to use the same in India, however unlike the global invites, OnePlus will release different India-specific invites for the country.

Bring huge number of this device to india and see it outsells 1 million easily 😀
Will sell 5 lakhs in the first week in India..
Agree with people who has commented below. But, they need to ensure that they are not following Xiaomi in their marketing & selling strategies, it will give them -ve publicity. Given the price, they should outsell anyone in the market no matter who they are. All they need to do is plan right & execute impeccably !
