Microsoft launches Office for Android tablet preview

Microsoft on Thursday unveiled the Office for Android tablet preview. The interested consumers can participate in the preview by signing up here, however the general availability is scheduled for early-2015.

According to Microsoft, it is looking for consumers with access to KitKat running 7-inch-10.1-inch tablets (no Lollipop support yet) for try out the preview.

To remind you, although Microsoft offers an Office Mobile in Google Play, the upcoming Office for Android tablets will be the first full-fledged version of the Office apps on Android. The existing Office Mobile app is more of a stripped-down version, meant to be a companion app.

Microsoft has not offered any other details at this point but you can check out the screenshots of the Office for Android tablet preview later in the report.

In addition, Microsoft has announced that it is releasing Office for iPhone apps and making the editing support on iOS free. Editing, earlier, required an Office 360 subscription, the same is expected to be carried over to Android.
