Acer has announced the launch of an upgraded version of its C720 Chromebook in the US market. The new variant is powered by Intel’s 4th gen Core i3-40005U processor instead of the Intel Celeron processor normally found in Chromebooks.

“This is an incredibly exciting time to be a leader in the Chromebook market, since customers are responding with tremendous enthusiasm for the product’s performance, capabilities and value. We’ve been breaking new ground with our Chromebooks since 2011, and our new Intel Core i3 model will deliver more of what our customers love about our Chromebooks, including excellent performance and all-day battery life,” said Eric Ackerson, senior product marketing and brand manager, Acer America.

According to Acer, new version of C720 Chromebook will be available in two models, one (C720-3404) with 4GB of RAM and price-tag of $379.99, other (C720-3871) with 2GB of RAM and price-tag of $349.99. These models will be available this month at retailers in North America.

To remind you, Acer C720 features an 11.6-inch HD display with a 1366×768 resolution, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, HD webcam, microphone, HDMI port, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports.

There is no word on the release in other markets right now.
