At the One (E8) and Desire 616 launch event earlier today, HTC revealed that it plans to roll-out an over-the-air (OTA) update for One (M8) smartphones in the country, which will bring the 4G LTE support for Indian networks. According to HTC, this OTA update will be released on August 15.

Thanks to presence of Snapdragon 801 SoC, One (M8) already has the necessary hardware (radios) for 4G LTE networks, it has just not been enabled in the software, which will change after the update.

The company did not say whether plans to roll-out a similar software update for One (E8) smartphone. As E8 also packs the same hardware, it too is capable of supporting 4G LTE networks.

In related news, HTC India stated that it has seen a great response for HTC One (M8) and Desire 816 smartphones in the country. The company did not share any specific sales numbers.

In addition, the Taiwanese manufacturer announced that it plans to launch many more smartphones in the country around Diwali. These phones will be priced across segments.

Buy it only if confirmed for more 4G band support across the world including India as I am a frequent traveler and dual-sim with 4G support is the need these days for all business / executive international travelers.

Whichever manufacturer understands this first would gain market across the globe. Few other small things should be that both the SIM’s should support 4G across globe, one SIM slot should be accessible from outside so that physical interaction is minimal and a good battery which lasts one full day (16 hours) whatever it takes.
