The most important of the new additions in Gmail for Android is the introduction of “Save to Drive,” which allows the users to directly save their email attachments to Google Drive instead of using up the valuable Android device space.
Among other changes, Google has improved the RTL (Right to Left languages) support with proper UI elements for the languages like Arabic, Persian etc.
“If you’re an English speaker, you’re used to reading sentences from left-to-right. But there are a lot of languages out there that are written from right-to-left (RTL), such as Arabic, Hebrew and Persian. If you’re a speaker of one of these languages, Gmail on Android now looks and feels the way you’d expect with profile pictures and the navigation menu on the right instead of the left,” Gmail team explained in Google+ post.
In addition, Gmail for Android now also includes Spam Explanations to tell you why a particular email ended up in Spam. Also, the side navigation menu can now be accessed from the left edge (or right edge for RTL languages) across the app and it now packs Settings, Help, and Feedback links as well.
The new version of Gmail for Android is now rolling out in phases and will reach your Android device over the coming days.
