Lava launches IRIS 550Q smartphone in India for INR 13,000

Lava has announced the launch of a new IRIS-series smartphone in the Indian market. Dubbed as Lava IRIS 550Q, the phone has been priced at INR 13,000 and will go on sale this month, however the exact date of release is currently unknown.

The phone features a 5.5-inch 720p HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, and 1GB of RAM. It also comes with 4GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and 2600 mAh battery.

On the software front, the IRIS 550Q runs on Android 4.2 however Lava has noted that it is upgradeable to newer Android versions. The company has not given any time-frame for the update roll-out.

According to Lava, the smartphone will be released in Black as well as White colour options and come with a free flip cover.

The phone will be competing with the likes of Karbonn Titanium S9, XOLO Q2000, and iBall Andi 5.5N2 Quadro in the country, all of which also come with 5.5-inch HD display and quad-core CPUs.
