As we had anticipated earlier, MTS today announced the launch of Micromax’s Canvas Blaze smartphone on its network. This CDMA telecom operator is also offering the phone at a cheaper price than what was earlier spotted at an e-retailer.

According to MTS, it will sell Canvas Blaze for INR 10,999 and will also be giving Blaze buyers an option to choose an exclusive plan, in which they will get 2GB of free data every month, 1,000 free minutes for MTS to MTS local calling and 120 free minutes for other local and STD calling. This plan will be valid for six months.

Coming to the smartphone, Canvas Blaze features dual-SIM support (GSM+CDMA), MTS is using the CDMA SIM card slot to offer its EVDO services. Consumers will be free to pop-in any GSM SIM card in the second slot. The phone also packs 5-inch display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, 768MB of RAM, and 1850 mAh battery. In addition, Blaze comes with the usual set of connectivity options, Android 4.1, and microSD card slot.

“At Micromax, it is our constant endeavour to democratise technologies for the masses through our innovative and affordable offerings. Our new offering based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will help GSM consumers take advantage of the superior 3G EVDO network of MTS while retaining their GSM number,” said Vikas Jain, co-founder, Micromax.

The company has also revealed that it plans to launch more smartphones in partnership with MTS in the future.
