Intex’s octa-core smartphone will launch in January 2014

At a press conference held earlier this week, Intex revealed that the company will launch its previously announced octa-core smartphone in January 2014. The phone will carry i17 moniker but we would not be surprised if it gets changed before release.

As the company has already stated, this upcoming smartphone is powered by MT6592 octa-core processor and comes with specifications like 6-inch HD IPS display, 2GB of RAM, and 16/ 32GB of internal storage. All the known specifications can be found later in the post.

Intex is yet to announce the official pricing but it has indicated that the phone might get a below-INR 20K price-tag.

Waiting for octa-core smartphones from other vendors, we expect more Indian companies to jump the octa-core ship soon and by the time Intex i17 reaches stores, we would have seen more octa-core smartphones (most probably powered by the same SoC).
