Archos announces GamePad 2 with quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM & 7-inch HD display

French manufacturer Archos has taken the wraps of a new Android tablet for the casual gamers. Successor to the company’s original GamePad, the Archos GamePad 2 brings nifty new upgrades. According to Archos, the tablet will be available around the end-of-October for €179.99 ($245) in Europe and in Q4 stateside.

Archos GamePad 2 features 7-inch 1280x800p IPS display, 1.6GHz quad-core Cortex A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8/ 16GB of storage and Android 4.2.2. The tablet also comes with front camera, microSD card slot, and physical game controls, which can be mapped using the company’s own mapping software for almost all Android games.

“Following the success of the GamePad 1, we knew that we could take the gaming-tablet concept further. With our GamePad 2 we have included an HD screen, better controls, a larger battery and a faster processor,” said Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS.
