Opera has announced that it has partnered with Micromax and six other Android smartphone vendors in the Indian market to pre-load Opera Mini on their Android handsets. While, Micromax has already started releasing Android phones with pre-installed Opera Mini like Canvas 4 and Canvas Doodle 2, other manufacturers (Videocon, Spice, MoMagic Technologies, Wynncom, Lemon Mobiles and iBall) will release devices with pre-loaded Opera Mini browser in the coming months.

“India is home to the largest number of Opera Mini users in the world. Partnering with local OEMs in India and neighboring countries is part of our growth strategy to take Opera Mini’s user numbers in the region from strength to strength. Since the beginning of this year, more than 100 Android devices with Opera Mini preinstalled on them have been launched in India, Bangladesh and Nepal,” said Sunil Kamath, Vice President for South Asia, Opera Software.

Opera’s tie-ups for pre-loaded Opera Mini aren’t just limited to India, the company has also partnered with Symphony Mobile in Bangladesh and Colors Mobile in Nepal.

To remind you, Opera already has tie-ups with Celkon, Karbonn, Lava, Fly, Zen, HCL and Intex to bundle Opera Mini with their Android devices. With the latest round of partnerships, Opera Mini will now come pre-installed on Android devices from at least 14 Indian smartphone vendors.
