HTC has announced that it has released the Android 4.2.2 update for HTC Butterfly smartphone in its home-country Taiwan. The new update also brings the Sense 5.0 to the phone, which includes features like Blinkfeed, report Focus Taiwan.

“We are grateful for the support of Taiwanese consumers, and Taiwan is the world’s leading market to receive the new Sense 5.0 software update for the HTC Butterfly,” Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, said in a press statement.

Originally launched last year, HTC Butterfly was until running on Android 4.1 and had just seen the release of an upgraded version in the form of HTC Butterfly S, which already packs Sense 5.0 and Android 4.2.2.

According to HTC, Butterfly is also receiving select other features that was initially launched as a part of HTC One like Video Highlights slide show function and the updated user interface.

There is no word on release of the update in other regions including US where the phone is known as Droid DNA.  With the release in Taiwan, we can at least expect the international unlocked version to get the update.

In related news, HTC One, which too first received the Android 4.2.2 update in Taiwan, will be getting the same update in more Asian countries this week.
