Huawei has announced the launch of its phablet Ascend Mate in the Indian market. This Android-powered device has been priced at INR 24,900, much lower than the INR 28,900 pricing that was spotted on few Indian retailers but was removed later.

At this launch price, Huawei Ascend Mate will be competing Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy Mega smartphones but on paper, Mate looks better than both the phones.

Originally showcased at CES 2013, Huawei Ascend Mate comes with 6.1-inch HD IPS display, quad-core processor and Jelly Bean. The phone also packs 8MP rear camera and 4050 mAh battery.

Part of the company’s Ascend Android smartphone series, Huawei Ascend Mate is the most expensive phone launched by this Chinese manufacturer till date in the country. The company has traditionally released lower mid-range and entry-level devices, but Mate marks its entry to high-end devices in Indian market.

In related news, Huawei is expected to announce its Ascend P6 Android phone in London today, which as per leaks packs an impressive design and decent specifications.
