Lava releases Jelly Bean update for IRIS 501, available via service centres

Lava Mobiles has announced on its official Facebook page that it has released the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its IRIS 501 smartphone. The update is now available at the company’s service centres and you will have to go there to get your phone updated. You can check the full list of Lava service centres here.

Lava IRIS 501 was originally launched with Android 4.0.4 and this is a big update for the smartphone. Jelly Bean will bring Google Now support, enhanced notifications, UI changes and Project Butter improvements to this 5-inch smartphone from the company.

With this update, Lava joins the likes of Micromax and Salora, both home-grown manufacturers had recently released Jelly Bean updates for their phones.

To remind you, Lava IRIS 501 is currently selling for INR 7,999 online. The phone is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor. In addition, it comes with 5-inch WVGA display, and dual-SIM support.

Among other features, IRIS 501 packs 512MB RAM, 4GB of on-board storage, and microSD card slot. On the imaging front, Lava has included 5MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera.
