Gift Cards & Wish List support coming to Google Play Store; first images out

Google’s plans to add gift card and wish lists to Play Store were revealed earlier today, when folks over at Android Police poked through the APK of latest version of Play Store client for Android devices. They found evidence of upcoming integration of wish lists and gift cards in the form icons, mention in Android manifest as well as in layout resources.

Their claim was further confirmed by a tweaked version of same APK by a developer, which brought these features to the fore. The same developer shared the screenshots on Twitter showing these features.

Now that we know that Google is indeed planning to bring these features, the next question is WHEN? We don’t have the answer to that right now, but it should not take very long for the search giant.

Google is also likely to start the sales of gift cards in Play Store soon, which will allow the card holder to purchase content from Play Store without the need of Credit card or carrier billing.

Update:  We have got the first images of Play Store gift cards in $10 and $25 denominations. This further cements that Play Store is getting the gift card support very soon.
