Huawei announces Ascend D1 quad series smartphones, coming in Q2

As rumored, Huawei has announced its first quad core Android smartphone Ascend D1 quad today. D1 quad launch was also accompanied by the announcement of two more smartphones from the company – Ascend D1 and Ascend D1 quad XL.

Ascend D1 quad features Huawei’s K3V2 quad-core 1.5GHz processor, Android 4.0, 4.5-inch 720p display, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, 1800 mAh battery, Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, Audience earSmart voice technology and is just 8.9mm thick. On the other hand, Ascend D1 quad XL has a 2500 mAh battery and comes with same specs as D1 quad. Bigger battery has increased the thickness of XL to 10.9mm.

The last one, Huawei Ascend D1 will feature 1.5GHz dual core processor, Android 4.0, 4.5-inch 720p display, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and 1670 mAh battery.

“We’ve listened to people’s top demands from smartphones: speed, long-battery life, high quality visual and audio capabilities, and a compact, lightweight handset. The Huawei Ascend D quad exceeds these expectations,” said Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei Device in a statement.

The Ascend D quad series will be available in China, Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and South America, and the Middle East in Q2 2012. The Ascend D1 will be available in the above markets from April 2012.
