Google continues to increase its portfolio of patents and for the third time company has acquired several patents from IBM. Search Engine giant has grabbed a total of 217 patents from IBM, reported Bill Slawski via an update on USPTO website.

These patents are related to presentation software, data caching, server load balancing, network performance, video conferencing, email administration, IM apps along with wireless phones and Javascript widgets.

Earlier Google had made patent transactions with IBM in July and September and got around 2,053 patents in its kitty. With the increased patent litigation with Google and its Android partners, these patents are going to play a crucial role.

No financial details of this patent deal are clear right now.
