This is not the first patent transaction between the companies. Google had bought some wearable technology patents from Foxconn last year. Financial details of that deal are also unknown.
Foxconn, who assembles gadgets for almost all major technology giants, has a big patent portfolio and it clearly seems to be making use of that. It today stated that it has applied for 128,400 patents and has been granted more than 64,300 patents world-wide.
This patent acquisition from Foxconn is the third major patent deal by Google this year. The company had earlier inked patent cross-licensing deals with Samsung and Cisco.
