Sony Ericsson reveals Android 4.0 ‘ICS’ upgrade schedule for Xperia phones

Sony Ericsson has announced that it will start updating the Xperia series smartphones to Ice Cream Sandwich from end March/early April 2012. The first smartphones in line will be Xperia arc S, neo V and Ray, rest will follow them.

Sony Ericsson is the only Android manufacturer that has promised to update its entire 2011 product lineup to Android 4.0, including products like Xperia Mini, Mini Pro and Live with Walkman. Company has already released demo ICS builds for some of its smartphones.

Update Schedule:

  • Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray – End March/early April 2012
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini and mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active as well as Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman – End April/early May 2012.

At this rate, we are expecting the update process to complete in the first half of 2012. All the updates will be pushed OTA as well as a download via PC companion software.
