Panasonic to launch Android phone in Europe in March, shows prototype

Panasonic has announced that it will be making its re-entry in European market in March 2012. Europe will be its first step in global roll-out of smartphones. Company wants to sell 1.5 million smartphone units next year in Europe and taking that number to nine million by 2016 in Europe, Asia, China, and the United States.

Panasonic also showcased a prototype today that will be the first smartphone from Panasonic next year to reach European soil. It features a 4.3-inch qHD display, NFC hardware along with Android. It will be dust and water proof too. This smartphone will be manufactured at company’s existing Malaysia factory.

Company however did not give the release dates for Asia or US.
