Android Market took 3 years, 41 days to reach 10 billion downloads

Google has officially announced that Android Market has reached the 10 billion app downloads milestone the past weekend.

Since October 22, 2008, when the first Android smartphone G1 was released, it took Market a total of three years and 41 days to reach this milestone. But the next 10 billion will come a lot faster (probably within next 8-10 months) as app downloads are on an almost vertical growth curve right now and the last 4 billion downloads took only 6 months with the latest 1 billion coming in just a month.

With over 550,000 Android devices being activated daily, it is a no-brainer to guess that mobile apps are here to stay and are the next big thing.

We have already reported that Google is celebrating this milestone by selling ten premium apps every day for the next ten days at just 0.10 USD.
