Tegra 3 tablets coming, Android to account for 80pc of 2012 phone shipments – Acer

Acer President Jim Wong has confirmed that his company is going to launch Tegra 3 tablets next year. Two of company’s upcoming quad core tablets were leaked recently and Wong stated that those leaks were true and these tablets will be launching sometime in 2012. He also said that he is expecting that Android will account for 80pc of Acer’s smartphone shipments in 2012.

Speaking to T3.com, Wong said that his company would soon be releasing Tegra 3 tablets, Acer was the first to follow Motorola with a Honeycomb tablet in 2011 after the launch of the XOOM and we intend to remain very aggressive on that front, he added.

According to leaks, these upcoming Tegra 3 tablets will feature 1280 x 800 pixels resolution display, Bluetooth 2.1 and will be called Iconia Tab A511 and 510 for 3G and WiFi variants respectively.
