Lava Mobiles set to launch first Android phone in India

Advertisements

Lava Mobiles is all set to introduce their first Android smartphone in the Indian market. According to a news tip, which landed in our inbox this morning, Lava has been working on this smartphone at their R&D center in Bangalore.

We are not sure about how much of it is going to be homegrown, but I am expecting that Lava would have worked on the software part rather than the hardware part, which would just be a rebranded OEM product from China.

According to our tipster, this smartphone will come with 600 MHz Qualcomm SoC, 3.2 inch capacitive display and a 3D UI. Other features include 5MP camera, pre-several installed apps, and SRS 3D surround sound support.

There is no word on the pricing or the Android version in the smartphone; we are putting our money on Android 2.2.

Thanks for the tip Sunil, More Coverage: TMI
