The online money-transfer company Xoom Corp dragged Motorola Mobility Holdings to the court after Motorola named its new tablet computer the Xoom.
“To confuse and mislead consumers, Motorola without authorization deliberately and unlawfully appropriated Xoom’s trade name and trademark rights,” the company said in the complaint.
Similarly, the Q&A service provider ChaCha‘s lawsuit is a product of HTC’s decision to christen its ‘Facebook phone’ as ChaCha.
Both petitioners fear that new handset names might confuse people and hence the lawsuit!
