Budget phones to boost Android share in Thailand

Google’s Android is expected to witness a drastic surge in Thailand this year, buoyed by new devices including budget-priced handsets from China, reported Bangkok Post. The arrival of several entry-level Android smartphones, added with the launch of rebranded Chinese phones from companies like Spriiing Telecom, will increase the Android uptake in the country.

The main loser in this battle will be Apple iPhone, feels True Corp assistant to the president and CEO, Papon Ratanachaikanont.

Companies like Samsung and LG have already announced a series of budget Android devices, and more launches are expected at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. Many of these phones will land in Thailand soon, with major chunk of them falling in the price range of 6,000-12,000 baht.

With the rise of social networks, and digital friendly young generation, smartphone rise is not going to stop anytime soon, and Android seems to be a winner in this situation.
