The Pixel 10 series is here, and while some upgrades are subtle, others are a significant step forward. Beyond the new Tensor G5 chip, these phones pack a number of key hardware enhancements that truly improve the user experience. We’ve broken down the biggest changes to help you understand exactly what’s new.
1. Tensor G5 Chip
At the heart of the Pixel 10 lineup is the new Tensor G5 chipset. Built in partnership with TSMC on a more efficient 3nm process, the G5 represents a major leap over the previous generation. Google claims the new chip delivers a 34% faster CPU on average and a massive 60% more powerful Tensor Processing Unit (TPU). This translates to a more responsive device for everyday tasks, with on-device AI features—like the new Gemini Nano model—running up to 2.6 times faster and twice as efficiently.
2. Pixelsnap
Google has finally introduced its answer to magnetic attachment systems with Pixelsnap. Built into all Pixel 10 models, this technology uses the Qi2 wireless charging standard, bringing the convenience of magnetic alignment to the lineup. This not only ensures a perfect connection for wireless charging every time but also opens the door to a new ecosystem of accessories, from charging stands to ring grips and wallets that snap securely into place. The new Pixel 10 Pro XL model also gets a boost, supporting faster 25W wireless charging via the Qi2.2 standard, while the rest of the series reaches 15W.
3. Enhanced Durability Across the Board
Durability has been a major focus for the new series. The Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro are now protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back, offering excellent scratch and drop resistance. The most notable change, however, is with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It’s the first foldable phone to receive an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, a monumental upgrade that provides peace of mind in a category where durability has often been a concern.
4. UFS 4.0 Storage
For the first time, Google has equipped the Pixel series with UFS 4.0 storage. This is a major win for performance, as it offers up to double the transfer speeds and is 46% more power-efficient than the UFS 3.1 used in previous models. However, it’s important to note that this upgrade is available only on models with 256GB of storage or higher. Furthermore, the 512GB and 1TB versions of the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL feature a new “Zoned UFS” technology for enhanced long-term performance and efficiency.
5. Faster Wired Charging Speeds
While still not the fastest on the market, the Pixel 10 series brings welcome improvements to wired charging. The standard Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro now support up to 30W wired charging, a slight but noticeable bump. The real jump comes with the Pixel 10 Pro XL, which gets a significant boost to 45W wired charging, bringing it much closer to the speeds seen on rival flagship devices.
