Amazon’s exclusive annual shopping event, Prime Day, is here, and from July 8 to July 11, you’ll have the chance to buy most of your wishlist items at a discount. So, if you were saving up for a new TV purchase, it’s time to get those savings in action, as Prime Day includes some of the best deals you’re going to get before the holiday shopping season.
The timing of Prime Day is also excellent for a new TV purchase, as 2025 models have just about reached the shelves, and the 2024 models are receiving their best discounts before they sell out for good.
LG C4
The LG C4, among the best TVs of 2024, is still a fantastic purchase. It’s an OLED TV that comes in sizes ranging from 42 inches to 83 inches, giving you the power to pick the size that best suits your needs.
It’s an amazing TV for pretty much every use case unless you want to put a TV in a room with too much light, as it doesn’t get super bright. However, if the room is reasonably bright or light-controlled, it will shine like no other TV.
It features a 144Hz OLED TV, ideal for gamers seeking high refresh rate gaming. You also get Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, Filmmaker mode, and four HDMI 2.1 ports. WebOS software offers all the streaming services and on-demand gaming platforms you may want, providing a comprehensive entertainment experience.
Hisense U8N
Although the newer U8QG is here, Hisense’s 2024 model – the U8N – is very similar in performance. It’s a Mini-LED TV that uses quantum dots to deliver impressive colors. It also features full-array local dimming for inky blacks that almost reach the OLED levels.
All the modern TV features you may want are present, including Dolby Vision HDR, a 144Hz panel, VRR, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and two HDMI 2.1 ports. Hisense utilizes Google TV software, which is widely regarded and features a large app selection.
You can buy it in sizes ranging from 55 inches to a massive 100 inches.
Samsung QN90D
Another mini-LED TV to consider is Samsung’s QN90D. It’s an excellent TV, apart from one glaring miss, which is a problem with every single Samsung TV: the lack of Dolby Vision support. However, as more and more streamers have turned Dolby Vision into a premium feature reserved only for top-tier subscriptions, the lack of its support may not be such a big deal for most people. Besides, it has everything else, including HDR10+.
The TV delivers impressive picture quality, thanks to quantum dots, local dimming, and Mini-LED backlighting. It also features all the advanced gaming features, including a 144Hz refresh rate, VRR support, and ALLM.
Moreover, it has good viewing angles, thanks to the company’s special layer applied on top of the display. Other LED TVs typically don’t offer decent viewing angles.
Finally, there is Tizen OS as the operating system. It’s easy to use and offers access to all popular streaming services.
Why buy a 2024 model when there are 2025 TVs in stores?
If you’re someone like me who wants the best value for your money, the 2024 models are currently a better value for money than any 2025 model. You are unlikely to get any significant discount on this year’s TVs before the holiday season. So, you’ll end up paying almost the sticker price, which is never a good deal, and year-over-year changes in TV aren’t significant.
Even if you buy a TV from last year, you won’t miss out on much in terms of technological advancements. More importantly, as 2024 models are more affordable, you may be able to secure a larger size or a better TV without exceeding your budget.
Before making a purchase, check the price history of the TV model to ensure you’re getting a good deal, as not every offer is as good as it seems.
