Sony’s unannounced Xperia XA2 Ultra appears online

Update (January 8): Sony has unveiled the Xperia XA2 Ultra.

Update (December 28): We now know that Sony H4233 will be launched as Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra globally. The phone was recently spotted in the Malaysian SIRIM database by Soya Cincau, which has confirmed the final branding. Thanks to the GFXBench sighting, the key specifications of the phone had already been leaked. Read on for the details from the GFXBench leak.

Earlier (September 12): After introducing the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact smartphones at IFA 2017, Sony is now busy building a mid-range large-screen smartphone.

Spotted in GFXbench database on Tuesday, the unannounced Sony H4233 (codename) will include a 6-inch full HD screen. It will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box like the Xperia XZ1 smartphones.

The smartphone will be powered by 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor and come with 4GB of RAM, 32/ 64GB of internal storage, and NFC.

For the shutterbugs, Sony is packing a 21-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 16-megapixel selfie camera. Both cameras will be capable of shooting 4K videos.

There is no word on the pricing or a launch date at this point, but given the phone is already showing up on benchmark sites, it is likely to be announced in the coming weeks.

Xperia XZ Premium gets new software update

In related news, Sony has released a firmware update for Xperia XZ Premium smartphone . Over 115MB in size, the update brings September Android security patch, improved Wi-Fi performance, and a bunch of bug-fixes.

The update takes the software build number in the Xperia XZ Premium to version 45.0.A.7.137.
