Looks like online-only retail model is not working for everyone. Huawei today announced that its Honor brand will no longer be online-only and the company has partnered with Sangeetha Mobiles, a prominent South Indian mobile phone retail-chain, to offer Honor smartphones. Sangeetha has a network of 320 stores across four states – Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
Honor Holly will be the first smartphone to be available in Sangeetha stores at INR 7,999. The phone is available at just INR 6,999 on Flipkart.com, which until now was the sole retailer to carry the phone. It is unclear why Huawei thinks that the consumers will be willing to pay INR 1,000 premium to buy the phone from a physical retail store.
“We are overwhelmed with the response we have received for our Honor smartphones and especially for Honor Holly. To reinforce our commitment towards our customers in India, we have decided to introduce Honor Holly in brick-and-mortar retailer shops where customers can get a hands on experience of our smartphone. We are glad to exclusively partner with Sangeetha mobiles as they have a strong market in southern market in India,” said Allen Wang, President of Consumer Business Group, Huawei India.
To remind you, Honor Holly features a 5-inch HD display, Android 4.4, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
