Moto E (2nd Gen) getting Android 5.1 update in US

Advertisements

Motorola has begun the roll-out of Android 5.1 update for Moto E (2nd Gen) (XT1527) smartphone in the United States. The update is now live over-the-air and will soon reach all second-gen Moto E units in the country. There is no word on when the update will be pushed to other markets, but we don’t see why it will take long.

The update is 259MB in size and brings a number of bug-fixes, select UI-tweaks, support for factory-reset protection, ART run-time performance enhancements, and usability improvements. You can check out the full change-log at the end of the report (or at this link).

This is the first major update for the phone, which was introduced in February this year. The Moto E (2nd Gen) can be grabbed in the US from Amazon, Motorola.com and other retailers in 3G and 4G versions starting $119.

If you have already updated your Moto E phone, do let us know about the experience in comments. [via]
