Well, this tie-up hardly comes as a surprise and was just waiting to happen. Ever since Cyanogen CEO Kirt McMaster started making the statements like “taking Android away from Google,” it was clear that the Cyanogen was subtly inviting Google competitors like Microsoft to be a part of its operating system.
As a part of the Microsoft tie-up, Cyanogen OS will include Bing services, Skype, OneDrive, OneNote, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
“People around the world use Cyanogen’s operating system and popular Microsoft services to engage with what matters most to them on their mobile devices. This exciting partnership with Microsoft will enable us to bring new kinds of integrated services to mobile users in markets around the world,” said Kirt McMaster in a statement.
No other details about the tie-up are available at this point, but we expect to hear more from both Cyanogen Inc and Microsoft in coming months.
