Update: Sony has revealed that the Android 5.0 update is now live for Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet & Z3 Tablet Compact as well. The update is currently live in select markets and will reach more countries in the coming weeks.
Earlier: Sony has announced that it has begun the Android 5.0 update roll-out for Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones. The update will reach devices in Nordics and Baltics first, followed by other markets.
Sony has also stated that the Lollipop update will reach more Xperia Z-series devices around early-April (around two-weeks time from now).
The company has shared the key changes that you can expect after the update, here are the highlights.
- UI based on Google’s material design, but retaining Sony’s minimalistic approach
- Enhanced notifications and lock screen with fully customizable settings
- Multi user profiles and guest mode
- Android for Work support
- Better storage control and customisation with the option to easily move applications from internal memory to SD card
