Along with the Xperia Z line-up, the company with Google will be releasing Android 5.0 for Z Ultra Google Play edition smartphone, which will be the first Sony-branded device to get Lollipop in the coming weeks.
The Z-series will start getting Android 5.0 update in early 2015 with Xperia Z3 and Z2-series devices getting the update first, followed by other phones and tablets.
There is no word on the fate of other Sony Xperia smartphones like T-series, M-series, E-series or C-series at this point, but we hope to hear from the company in the coming weeks as it further details its roadmap for Android 5.0 roll-out.
Sony has stated that it will be including quite a few Sony tweaks in Android 5.0 to offer better features and functionality.
“We’ve been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our Z Series devices as we can, as quickly as we can. We’re really excited about the new Sony features & functionality and the improvements we’ve made to the user experience – and we’ll be sharing more soon,” stated Sony in a blog post.
