Samsung releases Galaxy S Duos 3-VE in India for INR 6,650

Update: Samsung has now listed the Galaxy S Duos 3 G316 at its official e-store and listing carries the name “Galaxy S Duos 3-VE.” It retails at INR 6,650, lower than what we had earlier heard from Mahesh Telecom.

The e-store listing has also revealed the specifications of the phone, but they seem to be incomplete as there is no mention of 3G support or a front camera.

Earlier: Samsung has quietly released a slightly tweaked version of Galaxy S Duos 3 (G313HU) smartphone in the Indian market. Although the company is silent on the matter, Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom revealed the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 G316HU on social media. The new variant has been priced at INR 7,100 (check updated pricing above).

The full specifications of the new S Duos 3 version aren’t clear at this point, so we can’t be certain about the full extent of changes between the smartphone originally launched in September last year and the new one. We do however know that Samsung has tweaked the processor and instead of 1GHz dual-core chip, we now have 1.2GHz dual-core, the make is unspecified at this point. Other known specifications seem to be same as the earlier version. I am looking for more information and will update the report as soon as I hear something.

If records at import-data tracking website Zauba.com are any indication, Samsung intends to keep both S Duos 3 G313HU and G316HU in the market, as it is importing both smartphone units in the country. To remind you, the Samsung Galaxy S Duos 3 G313HU is currently offered around INR 6,500 in the country.
