It was originally released as a preview last year and has since come a long way. According to Google, Android Studio will have Stable, Beta, Dev, and Canary release channels and the devs can choose a channel depending on how quickly they want new Android Studio features. It is available on Windows, Mac and Linux.

According to Google, app developers, who were working on Eclipse until now, can follow the migration steps given here to move to Android Studio.
