Google has finally started rolling out Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for HTC One Google Play edition smartphone. It is live over-the-air and will reach your smartphone over the next few days. As Nexus 5 is yet to receive Android 5.0.1 and One GPe is directly being updated to this version, the HTC phone has become the first Android phone to get the latest Android version.

If you don’t want to wait for OTA on your HTC One, you can manually download the update from this link and sideload it using ADB.

The Android 5.0 update for HTC one (M8) Google Play edition is also set to go live today and the OTA notifications should start popping up later in the day. There is no word on confirmation on whether One (M8) will also reach Android 5.0.1 directly, but it is very likely.

Update: The Android 5.0.1 update for One (M8) Google Play edition is also live. In case you don’t want to wait for the OTA notifications, here is the direct link to download the update. Sideload the downloaded file using ADB.

Being Google Play edition devices, the software available on the HTC One phone almost same as Nexus devices, so the users can expect to see material design changes, performance enhancements, improved notifications, guest mode, battery improvements, and more.
