Coming to the company-specific shipments, Samsung was responsible for 24 percent of the shipments, followed by Micromax with 20 percent, Lava and Karbonn with each 8 percent and Motorola with 5 percent. Others accounted for 36 percent of the market share.
IDC notes that the big numbers in Q3 were mainly because of the festive demand and the vendors are likely to have left with inventory going in Q4, thus the next quarter won’t see huge growth.
Among other observations, the research firm states that the demand for phablets is stagnating but is likely to rise as 4G roll-out picks pace next year and the consumers have better access to access media on the go.
