Gmail is reportedly getting ready to release a new version of its Android app in Google Play, which will bring support for third-party email accounts. Initially the support seems to be limited to Yahoo and Outlook, but the company could very well add more services in the future.

“Gmail will be able to handle email accounts from other providers like Yahoo or Outlook, switching between them with either a simple swipe or by touching the account drop down,” explained Android Police in a report.

In addition, the upcoming Gmail for Android version will bring brand new compose screen, round avatars, refreshed iconography, and more. The update is expected to go live in the coming weeks, most likely close to the release of new Nexus device.
