Idea Cellular unveils Magna, Magna L Android phones in India

Idea Magna and Magna LIndian telecom operator Idea Cellular has added two new Android smartphones to its 3G device portfolio in the country. The new Magna and Magna L Android phones are entry-level devices and will be competing with some of the most popular Android smartphones in the country right now, however the company is betting on the bundled data plans to help them sell the phones.

The new Idea Magna has been priced at INR 4,999 while the Magna L will retail for INR 6,250. The operator is also offering 16GB of 3G data for just INR 261 to the new smartphone owners. It will be valid for four months.

“3G adoption is greatly dependent on pricing of 3G smartphones and data plans. By bundling 16GB 3G data with our entire range of smartphones, we have brought down the total cost of owning a smartphone, and 3G connection, by over 50 percent. With the new range of Magna and Magna L, 2G users can conveniently upgrade to 3G by paying as low as Rs. 4,999 and acquiring a stylish 3G smartphone with 16 GB data,” said Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular.

Coming to the smartphone specifics, the Idea Magna features a 4-inch display, 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 5MP rear camera, and VGA front shooter. On the other hand, the Magna L comes with 4.5-inch display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 5MP rear camera and VGA front snapper. Other details about the phones are unclear at this moment.

The Idea Magna and Magna L phones will be available in the coming days in the telecom circles, where Idea offers 3G services.
