Google is all set of unveil the first Android One smartphones on September 15 at a press event in New Delhi. One of these Android One smartphones is coming from Spice, which was revealed to be among the first Android One partners at the Google I/O event in June.
Today, we have the exclusive details of the Spice’s first Android One smartphone. According to sources close with the matter, the smartphone will be priced at INR 6,999 in the country and sport a 4.5-inch FWVGA display.
Among other specifications, the phone will be powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and feature 1700 mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. On the imaging front, the smartphone will pack a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, and 2MP front camera, revealed the sources.
In addition, the phone will run on Android 4.4.4 and support dual-SIM card support.
The final branding of the phone is unclear at this moment but will be different than the Stellar or Flo sub-brands being used by the company for rest of its smartphone line-up in the country.
The phone is already being teased by Spice on its social media channels and in these teasers, the company clearly states that the phone will be exclusive to Flipkart.com.
To remind you, Android One is Google’s initiative to help smaller smartphone vendors in building great affordable Android smartphones. As per the details revealed by Android boss Sundar Pichai at I/O, the search giant is providing the vendors with a turnkey solution as well as a vetted listed supported hardware to manufacturer these phones. The phone will run on stock Android version with just a limited number of pre-loaded non-Google applications.
We are trying to find details about the other two Android One smartphones, set to be launched alongside the Spice phone and will let you folks know as soon as we get hold of something.
Update: Turns out, Spice’s first Android One is already live on Flipkart. This listing clears up, rest of the details. The phone will be known as Spice Dream UNO and can already be ordered from the website.
Update 2: The Flipkart listing is gone but here is a screenshot.
Thanks Bhargava for the tip

Hey Friend !!! Please check with the link its broken or what
If you are talking about the Flipkart link, as I noted in the Update 2, Flipkart has removed the listing as it was premature.
2.27gb internal user storage for apps will be grossly inadequate because of the way Android apps get installed on internal/external storage. This would be even more of a problem when Android L arrives as app sizes are going to increase requiring more space per app.
Soc most likely is going to be Mediatek 6582 and Google is going to handle the OS update. that leaves a big question mark hanging. who is responsible for releasing the kernel source. if spice then nada. they won’t bother. if Google then by GPLv2 they must but then mediatek is not a dev friendly chipset vendor.
looking at the price this is a solid offering. wonder if Google will allow the manufacturers to tweak the spec and price or if this is a “call your price” kind of platform.
google discussed with mediatec, specially for some new type of chip,it is genereally different from chis offered by media tec, and is of more quality(this is used in android one phones) … which means everything is standarized for android one phones and this project
Moto E looks more attractive with Corning Gorrilla Glass 3, better resolution of about 250 ppi, albeit on 4.3 inch screen, better battery with 1980mAh.
What is all this hype about Android One? I Hope the other ‘Android One’ devices turn out better in terms of specification.
